There is a task in Windows XP in cygwin environment or any different way to receive names of disk devices + their models.
Now it I do with the help ddrescue, Copying of the information from the damaged carriers with the help ddrescue and HDD Super Clone, #177 :
O:\ddrescue\ddrescue-win\ddrescue-win-1.22,Russian_manual>ddrescue.exe/dev/sdb b.dat - ask-s1
GNU ddrescue 1.22
About to copy 1 Bytes
from '/dev/sdb ' [SAMSUNG HD250HJ::30535255394a5042324237303332202020202020] (250059350016)
to ' b.dat'
Proceed (y/N)? n
...But I feel that there should be any more correct command that deduced like the such:
/dev/sda WDC-WD1600JS
/dev/sdb SAMSUNG HD250HJ
And so on for all disks, and at the same time it is possible also the list of sections, type/dev/sda contains/dev/sda1 FAT32,/dev/sda2 EXT2
Perhaps there is a possibility to compile (cross-compiling) in Linux any of standard programs for operation under Windows XP, either under MinGW, or under Cygwin. For example, fdisk. In a standard dial-up for cygwin there is nothing approaching.
